The MDA “Missile Defense Agency” conducted a successful test of the missile defense system currently in operation and continuing expanding deployment. At 3:04 PM eastern time a target missile was launched from the Kodiak Alaska test site that would simulate the type of incoming missile that could be launched from North Korea at Americas Northwest, the target threat missile was tracked by both sea and land based Radar that calculated targeting information for the incoming missile and at 3:23 PM eastern time a ground based interceptor was launch from a ground silo at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. The Interceptor reached range and released an EKV “Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle” that identified the incoming warhead and maneuvered and achieved a successful intercept. Today’s test is the 37 successful test of the system out of 47 tests conducted.
