The Iranian government today February 8th has announced that it has successfully conducted a test of an anti ship missile capable of destroying large warships. The anti ship missile an SSN-4 Sark was test fired in the Persian Gulf durring an Irainian naval exercise, the commander of the exercise Ali Fadavi was stated as saying the missile has a range of 350 KM and can hit targets anywhere in the persian gulf. Iran has also conducted a test of their new ground to air missiles just recently deliverd from Russia. The testing of the land to sea anti ship missile comes at a time that the US is currently deploying and positioning aircraft carriers in the region.

As Iran continues to strive to improve their long range land based ballistic missiles capability, Iran has also been putting considerable effort into expanding their land to sea capability and sea combat capability. The main portion of this being by the expansion of their anti ship missile capability. Most of these systems have been bought outside the country but Iran has stated it has been working on developing its own naval missile systems and in a previous naval exercise Iran conducted a test of a sub-launched missile that could target ships that it said it had developed indigenously. As the Iranian land forces and navy continue to train with these new systems the personnel in the Iranian armed forces become more effective with these weapon systems.
