Officials in the Russian defense department must be red faced as for the third consecutive time in as many months a test of the new sub launched Bulava missile has ended in failure. The Bulava missile has been put forward as a crucial part of securing Russia’s future power on the global stage and bringing Russia’s missile capability up to date. If tests of the sub launched Bulava continues to fail it could severely damage the Bulava sub missile program. The next generation of Russian land based ICBM Topol-M Mobile missile systems have been deployed to a few missile units and more are expect to be deployed in 2007. The Topol-M has been designed as a highly maneuverable missile and new warhead design that can out maneuver and pass through any currently deployed missile defense system.
